About the RoleMy Funded Futures is seeking a Backend Developer (Django) to build and maintain the backend infrastructure for a specialized media platform focused on global futures markets.
This role will support a launch-phase financial news product, responsible for Wagtail CMS, data ingestion, publishing workflows, and API services powering a trading-focused audience. The position is project-based, hands‑on, and execution‑oriented, with potential extension as the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain backend services using Django and Django REST Framework
- Design and implement content management and publishing workflows for financial news and analysis
- Build APIs to support frontend delivery, analytics, and internal tools
- Integrate third‑party data sources (market data feeds, economic calendars, exchange data)
- Ensure backend systems are secure, scalable, and performant
- Optimize database schemas and queries (Postgre
SQL preferred) - Collaborate with editorial and product teams to support rapid content production
- Debug, monitor, and maintain production systems during launch and post‑launch phases
- Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code under real deadlines
Must have:
- Proven experience building production systems with Django
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and backend architecture
- Experience with relational databases (Postgre
SQL/MySQL) - Familiarity with authentication, permissions, and role‑based access control
- Ability to work independently and deliver reliably in a fast‑moving environment
Nice to have:
- Experience with Wagtail CMS or custom CMS development
- Exposure to financial, market data, or news‑driven platforms
- Familiarity with background tasks (Celery, Redis, cron jobs)
- Basic Dev Ops knowledge (Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment)
- Understanding of performance optimization and scaling patterns
