Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces.

We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more.

Ready to join us?

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead several teams in our Core Video & Data division. You’ll be responsible for the foundational platforms that power video ingestion, processing, storage and metadata across all of Hudl.

Core Video & Data builds the systems every product depends on—from the Premier League and NBA to youth sports. In this role, you’ll focus on building scalable, reliable and sport-agnostic platforms rather than individual features.

In this role, you will
  • Define platform vision and strategy. You’ll help shape and execute the long‑term vision for Core Video & Data, evolving our platforms to be more resilient and easier for product teams to build on. You’ll partner with Product to reduce fragmentation across the ecosystem.
  • Provide technical leadership. You’ll provide hands‑on leadership for system architecture and platform design. You’ll guide teams building large‑scale distributed systems while coaching engineers to raise the bar on quality and maintainability.
  • Maintain efficiency. With a focus on outcomes over outputs, you’ll ensure your teams deliver high‑impact work. You’ll empower them to make data‑driven decisions and iterate quickly on feedback.

For this role, we’re currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our office in London. But with our flexible work policy, there aren’t any current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.

Must‑Haves
  • Multi‑team experience. You have a track record of mentoring and improving teams of different levels of maturity simultaneously, and can tailor your approach to get the best results.
  • Strong technical proficiency. You have expert‑level backend knowledge and are comfortable discussing distributed systems, cloud architectures and data pipelines.
  • A platform mindset. You naturally think in terms of reusable capabilities, clear contracts and reducing coupling between teams.
  • A problem‑solver. You enjoy tackling ambiguous, systemic problems and finding pragmatic solutions that move the needle.
Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Tech stack knowledge. Our core stack uses C#, Mongo

DB, SQL, Elastic Search and AWS, so experience with these is ideal.
  • Growth mindset. You’re committed to staying up to date with industry trends and have a strong desire to continuously learn and share your expertise.
Our Role
  • Champion work‑life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company‑wide holidays and timeout (meeting‑free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
  • Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have…
