Are you ready to link your passion with a purpose? At Air Strip, we build technology that enables clinicians to diagnose earlier than ever before, accelerate life-saving interventions, reduce the cost of care, and save lives.
We provide mobile‑first clinical surveillance and alarm communication management technology that unlocks siloed data from patient monitors and transforms it into contextually rich information easily accessible on mobile devices and the Web. We’re seeking innovative thinkers who love doing meaningful work. If you’re looking to bring your skills and expertise to a growing technology company, it’s time for you to join us!
We're adding a Lead Serverless Engineer to our growing Air Strip team. In this role, you'll own our serverless infrastructure and establish our engineering practices. We're small and fast‑moving, with a focus on building predictive analytics for healthcare. In a team this size, ownership means more than building; it means you're establishing the framework for the department.
Reporting to our Senior Manager, Analytics, in this role, you'll be in product discussions one hour and debugging Lambda cold starts the next. This role is hands‑on: you'll write Python, build Terraform configs, and make architectural calls. You're knowledgeable and confident in your decisions, with the ability to explain those calls to people who don’t speak AWS.
• This role offers the flexibility to either work remotely within the United States or from our office location in San Antonio, TX.
This role could align for you if on a day‑to‑day…- You want ownership. You're looking for a role where you own the cloud architecture, not just execute someone else's design. You like making technical decisions and seeing them through.
- You prefer building over managing. You'd rather be hands‑on with the infrastructure than oversee a team. You're energized by solving problems directly.
- You communicate clearly. You're comfortable explaining technical trade‑offs to non‑engineers, in writing and in conversation, and proposing alternatives when constraints affect the product.
- You're a collaborator, not a lone wolf. We brainstorm in real‑time, not in async threads. You value face‑to‑face (or screen‑to‑screen) interaction and want to be part of a team that moves quickly enough that coordination becomes second nature.
- You appreciate serverless elegance. You enjoy designing efficient event‑driven systems with S3, SQS, and Lambda rather than defaulting to heavy compute clusters.
- Core: AWS Lambda (Python), S3, Dynamo
DB, Event Bridge - Infrastructure: Terraform
- Data: Time‑series medical waveform data
- CI/CD: Circle
CI or Git Hub Actions
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, or related field (commensurate experience will be considered in place of a degree)
- 7+ years in cloud engineering, or similar role including:
- Background in time‑series data processing
- Experience building platforms for data science or analytics teams
- Experience with healthcare data or compliance (HIPAA/HITRUST)
- Strong experience with AWS serverless:
Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Dynamo
DB, Event Bridge, SQS - Python proficiency for Lambda development and data processing
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
- Familiarity with event‑driven architectures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
