Lead Software Engineer – Manchester, UK
Department: Technology
Location: Manchester, UK
Compensation: £70,000 – £90,000 per year
Our aim at Made Tech is to use human‑centred technology to improve our society. We believe putting people at the heart of designing, building and delivering public services leads to better outcomes for everyone.
We are looking for Lead Engineers with a particular penchant for cloud, automation, slick tooling, and empowering software delivery by coaching teams in true Dev Ops fashion. While we value significant experience with AWS, this role remains a full‑stack and polyglot position.
About the RoleWe primarily write and deliver custom software for the public sector—crossing central and local government, health, and beyond. Technical excellence means delivering outcomes, not just features. High‑performing delivery teams are enabled to iterate rapidly with cloud automation and Dev Ops culture.
- Document architecture and infrastructure as code with Terraform and OpenAPI.
- Emphasise containerisation, AWS Lambda, and stateless services.
- Coaching teams to adopt the mantra: “you build it, you run it.”
- Technology stack includes Java, Ruby, Python, ES6+ React, C# .NET Core, and more.
Our Senior Engineers embrace sharing knowledge, mentoring, open‑mind architecture discussions, and contributing to the wider learning culture.
