Analytics – Senior Software Engineer – Front End

CoStar delivers real‑time, verified commercial real estate data that helps clients spot opportunities and make informed choices ahead of competitors. The Analytics team develops customer‑facing Real Estate Analytics products, creating innovative data‑intensive applications that turn the vast data collected by the CoStar Research teams into a fast, reliable, and intuitive analytics platform.

Overview

We are searching for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Front End to join our team and drive the full‑lifecycle development of this critical product. This position is located in San Diego (UTC Area) and is in office Monday through Thursday with work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, building, testing, and deploying scalable, reusable, and maintainable applications that handle large amounts of data.
  • Taking ownership of your work, from development and testing to eventual deployment and support in production.
  • Collaborating with other engineers, product owners, designers, and leadership.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior and mid‑level engineers, raising the technical bar through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.
  • Becoming a trusted team member in technical architecture, design, and code.
  • Advocating for evolution and improvement—both technical and non‑technical—within our teams and across development teams at CoStar.
  • Exploring new technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Gaining a deep understanding of the CoStar business, including the analytics products.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not‑for‑profit, in‑person college/university.
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • 5+ years of modern front‑end experience who can ramp up quickly.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Type Script, and at least one modern front‑end framework (preferably React).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex UI architectures and component systems.
  • Experience using REST APIs, Graph

    QL, and handling data‑driven UI.
  • Knowledge of CSS frameworks (Tailwind preferred).
  • Solid understanding of browser behavior, debugging tools, and performance basics.
  • Exposure to Node.js or backend‑for‑frontend (BFF) patterns.
  • Comfortable with Git, PR workflows, and code review best practices.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems, create clear technical designs, and deliver independently with minimal guidance.
  • Comfort using AI‑assisted engineering tools like Git Hub Copilot to enhance productivity and quality.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Expertise with micro‑frontend architectures.
  • Familiarity with accessibility (WCAG) and performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with D3 or other charting libraries.
  • Understanding of Datadog RUM/APM, logging, or observability.
  • Experience with Playwright, Jest, or other testing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
