Position: Senior Software Engineer (100% remote)

UDR is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Software Engineer (100% remote) opportunity for our customer in Aiken, SC to support the Savannah River Site
.

Overview

Senior Software Engineer position located remotely to support the Savannah River Site project.

Responsibilities
  • Keeps assigned applications operational by testing product upgrades, providing customer support and resolving customer issues.
  • Plans information systems and services from the perspective of application design, development, installation or database administration in accordance with SRNS IT processes and procedures.
  • Provides tactical design, engineering, technical specifications, project coordination, and configuration management for moderately complex IT solutions.
  • Assists more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in moderately complex tasks.
  • Collaborates with Software Professional Lead and customer/owner to understand and apply functional and system requirements.
  • Maintains technical expertise in assigned emphasis areas and demonstrates flexibility across multiple disciplines.
  • Communicates and coordinates with IT teams to support assigned areas; performs tasks across the application development lifecycle, software support, and database administration.
  • Performs root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for complex problems; ensures continued service of customer applications.
  • Masters software engineering tools such as configuration management, change management, vulnerability scanning, and debuggers in the development process.
  • Leads aspects of requirements analysis, design, and documentation reviews; guides personnel to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to technical standards.
  • Trains less experienced personnel and leads moderate initiatives and projects with defined tasks, milestones, and schedules.
  • Evaluates new requests, provides estimates of effort, and contributes to feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for moderately complex IT solutions.
  • Provides support for software infrastructure, maintains cyber posture and compliance, and plans for disaster recovery and storage needs.
  • Ensures confidentiality and security of operations.
Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering) with 5 years of related experience; or an appropriate combination of related degrees and experience as described in the original posting.
  • Experience/

    Skills:

    Knowledge and practical experience in software engineering, programming, requirements analysis, design, testing, documentation, debugging, and software development lifecycle; ability to work with minimal direction and adapt to changing priorities; proficiency with software engineering tools such as configuration management, change management, scanning, and debuggers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years experience (7 years if non-related or associate degree) in developing web-based applications using:
  • Eclipse or Spring Tools
  • Core Java
  • Java and Spring Boot
  • 3 years experience with and working knowledge of:
  • SQL Server or Oracle
  • Service Oriented Architecture
  • REST APIs
  • Working knowledge of:
  • SQL, Stored Procedures
  • React or JavaScript frameworks
  • HTML and CSS
  • Relational Database Tools (TOAD, SSMS)
  • ORM Frameworks (Entity Framework, Spring Boot)
  • Azure Dev Ops, TFS, or similar
  • Bootstrap and CSS libraries
  • Responsive UI
  • Agile Methodology
