As a Staff Engineer at Ankorstore, you are one of the most senior technical contributors in the company. You will drive architectural thinking at squad level while contributing directly to key initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP Product & Tech, you act as:

• A technical partner to leadership, shaping the architectural vision.
• An embedded expert in squads, guiding complex technical decisions and unlocking execution.
• A multiplier for the whole engineering organisation, raising technical quality and helping teams adopt modern patterns.

You influence at org-level through clarity, expertise, and deep problem-solving. You help squads build systems that align with our long-term modular platform strategy to bring the most value to our customers.

This role asks for strong ownership, broad impact, and the ability to move seamlessly from hands-on work to architectural guidance.

• Architecture & System Design : Own key architectural decisions inside one or several domains, ensuring alignment with Ankorstore’s tech vision. Translate the long-term architecture strategy into practical designs that squads can execute. Drive the adoption of modular, API-first, event-driven, and data-centric design patterns. Participate in design reviews and challenge proposals with constructive, high-level technical judgment.

• Execution & Delivery : Contribute hands-on to complex technical components, refactors, and mission-critical projects. Debug and resolve systemic issues across services, infrastructure, and data flows. Champion performance, scalability, and reliability across squads.

• Technical Leadership : Coach Senior Engineers and elevate their architectural thinking. Promote best engineering practices, raising the bar on code quality, testing, observability, and documentation.

• Cross-Functional Alignment : Partner with Product, Data, and Platform leaders to build coherent solutions. Ensure technical solutions directly support our brand-first OS strategy and services expansion.

• Innovation & Continuous Improvement : Explore technologies (AI integration, event-driven workflows, platformization trends) and push prototypes that create leverage. Identify long-term opportunities to improve foundations and reduce complexity.

• Back-end: PHP 8.3, Laravel 10, Golang
• Front-end:
  Vue 2/3, Nuxt 3/4, Typescript, Vuex / Pinia, sass, postcss, Vite Storybook, Chromatic, Tailwind
• QA:
  Vitest, Jest, Cypress
• Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, MySQL, Redis
• Tools:
  Github, Circle
  
  CI, Sentry, Notion, Graphana, Docker, Jira, Figma
• IA: MCP and agent home-made

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in Staff+, Tech Lead, or equivalent senior IC roles.
• Proven ability to design, evolve, and scale complex distributed systems.
• Experience driving architectural initiatives inside fast-paced product organisations.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and domain modeling.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in one or more of Ankorstore’s core backend languages (PHP, Golang).
• Demonstrated influence across multiple teams without formal authority.
• Excellent communication skills—able to simplify and explain architecture to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable working in English.

Germany. We are a remote-friendly company, and you will have a full remote contract in Germany.
