What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are looking for an experienced Emergency Planner specializing in Workplace Violence Prevention to join our team. This role involves supporting various emergency preparedness programs, including the Workplace Violence Prevention Program, Training and Drill Program, and Emergency Operations Center activities.
On any given day, you may be called upon to:
Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage workplace violence prevention programs and incident response plans.
Conduct threat risk assessments and regular safety evaluations.
Collaborate with HR, legal, and security teams to ensure compliance and enhance workplace safety.
Design and deliver training on recognizing and responding to workplace violence.
Serve as a point of contact for reporting workplace violence concerns.
Lead Threat Assessment Team meetings and manage case activities.
Track metrics and present reports on workplace violence trends to leadership.
Secondary ResponsibilitiesServe as a member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in a rotating, on-call capacity.
Develop and maintain emergency management plans and procedures.
Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments.
Design training programs on emergency preparedness and response.
Coordinate emergency response drills and collaborate with local agencies.
Monitor and evaluate emergency management initiatives and prepare reports.
Willing to travel to various Sandia locations on an occasional basis to support programmatic needs.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$102,400 - $199,700
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We RequireA bachelor's degree in homeland security, emergency management, public safety, criminal justice, psychology, or related field, plus five (5) years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
Experience with the following:
Threat and violence risk assessments (specialized knowledge and expertise in the identification, assessment, prevention, and management of targeted violence with an understanding of related legal requirements).
National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) principles, concepts, and terminology.
Software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
Facilitating workshops, leading interactive document reviews, public speaking, and conducting drills/training/briefings.
Developing high-functioning, collaborative relationships across a broad set of stakeholders.
Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in one or more emergency management programmatic areas to include:
Emergency Planning;
Training, Drills, and exercises; risk and hazard assessments, facility preparedness, and/or Workplace Violence.
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We DesireMaster's degree in homeland security, emergency management, public safety, criminal justice, psychology, and/or a related field.
Certified Workplace Violence & Threat Specialist (WVTS)
Certified Security Professional (CSP)
Demonstrated experience in developing high-functioning, collaborative relationships with law enforcement and security professionals, mental health providers, employee relation specialists, and/or ethics investigators.
Experience in developing comprehensive policies, plans, procedures, and supporting documents (e.g., forms, checklist).
