Overview

Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend - Core Scribd) – Join Scribd’s Core Scribd team to shape the primary reading experience for 10M+ daily readers.

• Impact 10M+ daily readers by enhancing the document reading page.
• Prototype & launch experiments that elevate engagement, leveraging product, design, and AI/ML.
• Build creation tools that empower users to synthesize research, supported by generative AI.
• Modernize the tech stack: decompose the Ruby‑on‑Rails monolith into a micro‑frontend architecture powered by Next.js and a distributed backend.

• Collaborate with Design and PM on new frontend features – React/Next.js, Graph
  
  QL, Type Script, Ruby on Rails.
• Contribute to a shared design system and frontend infrastructure.
• Maintain and improve the in‑document search service; spin up new services as needed in Python.
• Partner with Data/ML and Content Pipeline teams to improve document ingestion infrastructure.

• Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
• 5+ years of full‑stack experience, including React, Next.js, and Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with SQL databases (Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL).
• Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and SEO principles.
• Excellent collaboration skills across design, product, and engineering teams.
• Thoughtful approach to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.

Experience with Node.js or Go services.

Salary ranges are location‑specific: US (California) $146,000–$227,500; US (non‑California) $120,000–$216,500;
Canada $152,500–$202,500 CAD. Eligible for competitive equity ownership and a comprehensive benefits package.
