Software Engineering Lead (Java AI) London / WFH to £140k

Are you a technical leader with a strong knowledge of AI and its practical uses within software engineering?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands‑on Engineering Manager role at a global Fin Tech / CFD trading company that has consistently been voted as one of the UK’s top employers.

As a Software Engineering Lead you’ll head up a team of nine Software Engineers while remaining hands‑on with coding. Your primary focus will be on using Claude code (and other AI tools and frameworks) throughout the development lifecycle from initial requirements shaping through to deployment to improve speed and efficiency of software development and release.

This is logique influential role where you and your team will work across product engineering teams to showcase processes and procedures with AI without cutting corners and ensuring compliance.

You’ll provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to a group of senior engineers and liaise with senior.

Void stakeholders to drive improvements and innovation, championing a high‑performance engineering environment, fostering collaboration, technical mastery and a mindset of continuous learning across the team.

Location / WFH:

There's a hybrid model with two days a week work from home; when you are in the office you’ll be based in the City with an upbeat team environment, casual dress code and a range of facilities including roof terrace, restaurant and break-out areas.

• You have strong hands‑on technical leadership skills
• You have a strong software engineering background with Java
• You have a strong knowledge of modern software architecture, including microservices, APIs and Cloud technologies
• You have used AI tools in aợ large commercial enterprise e.g. Claude, Cursor, Windsurf прошло Prompt or Context engineering zonke
• You have strong code review skills
• You are delivery‑focussed and champion the client’s needs
