Senior Software Engineer

Our rent-to-own programme allows customers to move into their dream properties today, fixes their rent and helps them save. Customers can quickly accumulate a deposit, improve their credit score, and get mortgage-ready to fully own their home.

We’re seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join the team on a full-time contract. This role is responsible for building out Abode’s tech platform, from customer onboarding to portals and internal portfolio reporting software.

Responsibilities include:

Guide the team to develop pragmatic cross-functional decisions to design, build, test, and ship a scalable product

Talk with stakeholders a lot to figure out what needs to be done

Interface with APIs and external tools as a force multiplier; make good choices for build vs buy

Serve as a trusted leader and resource for all members of the team, other engineering teams, as well as our operations partners

The ideal candidate should have a passion for building consumer-facing fintech products, underpinned by impact and scalability.

Experience in full stack engineering in a startup environment, preferably in B2C and/or Fintech (minimum 4 years experience)

You think functional programming is fun, you’re passionate about it. You accomplish more with less code

You make sure to understand the needs of all stakeholders and make pragmatic and technically sound implementation decisions based on this understanding

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

As soon as possible

25 days annual leave (pro rata) in addition to public holidays
