Linux Devices Software Engineer – SnapD

Join Canonical, a leading open‑source software provider and creator of Ubuntu, to work with a mission‑critical Golang codebase focused on software delivery, containers, security sandboxing, telemetry, and device management for Snap packages.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
• Write high‑quality code to create new features.
• Debug Linux system‑level issues and produce high‑quality fixes.
• Review code produced by other engineers.
• Discuss ideas and collaborate on solutions.
• Obsess over robustness against unexpected events (e.g., power outages).
• Work from home with up to two weeks of global travel per year.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar.
• Professional software‑development experience using Go, Python, C, or C++.
• Knowledge of Linux system‑level fundamentals (e.g., cgroups, name spaces, App Armor).
• Commitment to software testing, code reviews, and maintainable code.
