PEGA Application Engineer (REMOTE or MA BASED)

Position Overview

In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality software solutions. You will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement software applications that meet user requirements and business objectives.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using best practices for both new and existing applications.
  • Contribute to project planning related to application development initiatives, design, and estimating activities.
  • Write test cases and execute thorough unit testing to verify the accuracy and quality of all software developed.
  • Perform required functions in accordance with application development methodologies (i.e. Agile/Waterfall etc.).
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product owners, project managers, architects, QA, and other engineers.
  • Identify risks, elevate appropriately, seek guidance, and recommend alternative approaches.
  • Engage in application defect resolution identified during project lifecycle and in support of production systems.
  • Support technical implementation planning and execution of software releases.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Provide timely and accurate project status reporting, proactively identifying risks and challenges.
  • Foster a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge.
  • Build knowledge of P&C insurance concepts, business processes, and Hanover systems.
Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of software development experience with a strong track record of delivering successful projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with required experience.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
  • Five or more years of experience with Pega RULES Process Commander (PRPC) Version 8 and beyond.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting RESTful web service APIs.
  • Experience fixing guard‑rail scores in Pega‑based apps.
  • Knowledge of system integration architecture using publish‑and‑subscribe pattern.
  • Experience migrating applications to different Pega versions and from on‑premise to private cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of Java EE and object‑oriented programming principles.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and build tools like Maven.
  • Proficiency in front‑end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Ability to develop efficient database queries for relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Self‑motivated and able to manage multiple priorities.
