My client is a healthcare technology start up that is looking for a remote principal engineer / head of engineering talent! This position will manage the internal team and off shore resources and be heavily involved in the code every day!

A bit about us:

This company is an emerging healthcare technology startup that is just turning profitable. They currently have a distributed team and function as a remote organization.

This is a hands on keyboard position, not a purely managerial role. It is critical that applicants understand they will still function everyday as a principal engineer along with other duties in this position.

The position will manage both a small US based team as well as coordinate and manage off shore resources as they move most of their engineering in house. The codebase will require some maintenance and adjustments for scalability as this role will include some architecture and system design experience. Understanding of distributed systems and computing is key in this role.

You will report to the CTO/COO and have a ton of autonomy in this position! Fully remote!

Job Details

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and direction.
• Design and develop distributed systems and APIs, ensuring scalability and robustness.
• Implement full-stack solutions using technologies such as Express, AWS, Python, Mongo
  
  DB, and No
  
  SQL.
• Utilize microservices architecture for the development and deployment of applications.
• Drive the API Gateway strategy, ensuring seamless integration with other systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative healthcare solutions.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices in all engineering processes.
• Utilize Git for version control, ensuring efficient management of codebase.
• Oversee the end-to-end product development process, from ideation to deployment.
• Continually evaluate emerging technologies and provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Deep JavaScript knowledge, including NodeJS and server side code proficiency
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership role.
• Proven experience with distributed systems and distributed computing.
• Strong knowledge of system design and full-stack development.
• Proficiency in API development and management, with experience in API Gateway.
• Solid experience with Typescript, AWS, Python, Mongo
  
  DB, and No
  
  SQL.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and Git.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
