The Platform Innovation team is a collection of entrepreneurial engineers that partners directly with both our VP Product & Design and our Co‑founder to identify strategic new business opportunities and build innovative solutions for them.

Door Dash is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a confidential project.

Over the past twelve months, the Platform Innovation team, within the Launch Pad organization, has found strong momentum with an emerging product. This year, we’ve assembled a strong cross‑functional, entrepreneurial team (lead Designer, lead Product Manager, and General Manager) to take the product to the next level – all that’s left is to hire an engineering leader. We're looking for a leader locally based in Toronto who can commute to the office upon hire.

• Lead and grow a team of exceptional backend and client‑side engineers delivering end‑to‑end engineering solutions
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap
• Navigate ambiguity in a fast‑changing business environment
• Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 9+
• Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting‑edge technologies, and outside‑of‑the‑box thinking
• Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

• BS, M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in people management leading full‑stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 8+ engineers
• 8+ years of industry experience
• Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast‑paced, product‑focused development environment
• Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with Android app development best practices
• Hands‑on leadership and strong product intuition
• Humility – willing to get into the details and open to feedback
• Growth mindset – you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper‑growth setting
• Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity – things can change quickly, and you’ll need to help the team evolve

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market‑dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
