About Us

Join the Technology Application Strategy team, where we empower Citi's global developer community to build better, faster, and more satisfying tools. Our dynamic, globally distributed team spans London, Belfast, and the US, and is dedicated to designing and deploying innovative productivity and tooling solutions.

Role Overview / What will you do:

• You will play a key role in developing tooling for the Citi developer community using Java and Spring Boot microservices on Linux on Open Shift.
• You’ll build APIs to integrate with other systems across the bank using industry best practices.
• You will engage across the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from design and architecture to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support, ensuring high‑quality, impactful solutions.
• Act as a trusted consultant and partner to developers worldwide within Citi, providing expert guidance and maximizing tool utilization.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert for senior stakeholders and team members, role‑modeling engineering excellence and fostering continuous learning.

Key Skills and Experience

• Highly motivated self‑starter comfortable with new challenges and eager to learn.
• Proficient Java developer who writes clean, testable code and follows best practices.
• Strong understanding of core Java and experience building applications with Spring Boot.
• Experience with build tools such as Gradle.
• Comfortable working on Linux and familiar with standard developer tooling (Git, Bit Bucket/Git Hub, Jira, Confluence).
• Knowledge of build pipelines, CI/CD, and production deployment paths.

Desirable Skills

• Working knowledge of application containerisation and deployment on cloud platforms (e.g., Open Shift, AWS, GCP) with Docker or Podman.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle.
