We’re partnering with an innovative and growing tech-driven business in York that’s looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable solutions for their clients.

This is more than just a coding role. You’ll be trusted to influence technical decisions, mentor others, and help shape how software is built across the business, all while enjoying a flexible hybrid setup and a genuinely people-first culture.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Web Developer, you’ll be at the heart of the development team, working on modern applications that make a real impact. You’ll collaborate closely with product owners, designers, and fellow engineers to turn ideas into robust, well-engineered solutions.

You’ll have the autonomy to do things properly, the support to keep learning, and the space to balance work with life outside of it.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software using PHP (Laravel) and modern frameworks
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into elegant technical solutions
• Taking ownership of code quality through reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement
• Solving complex technical challenges and driving improvements across existing systems
• Mentoring and supporting junior developers, helping them grow and succeed
• Contributing to architectural decisions and influencing technical direction
• Staying ahead of emerging technologies to keep the tech stack modern and efficient
• Playing an active role in project planning, estimation, and delivery

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience as a Software Engineer / Developer
• Deep knowledge of PHP and Laravel
• Solid experience with databases (MySQL, SQL Server) and RESTful APIs
• Comfortable working with Git and within agile development environments
• A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and thrives in collaborative teams
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A Computer Science degree is welcome, but real-world experience matters more
