We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer who shares our enthusiasm for technology and wants to be a part of a dynamic team that tackles real world challenges. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end web applications across the full stack, collaborating with a diverse team to deliver high-quality software solutions.

You will also work on our Artificial Intelligence team to build and deploy AI-centric applications that incorporate large language models.

Nelnet believes in a hybrid work environment that accommodates both in-office and remote work. The standard hybrid work schedule includes a 3/2 (in-office/work-from-home) split for associates that reside within 30 miles of an office. This is subject to change, based on manager discretion.

US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a 6C Federal security clearance are required for this role. Some travel may be required.

Starting salary range for this role is $85k - $110k annually.

Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in full-stack software development. Hands-on experience with front-end technologies like Tailwind, ShadCN, Typescript, and NextJS. Proficient in backend development using Python, FastAPI, and Rust. Experience with deploying and managing applications on AWS. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform.

1. Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
2. Solid understanding of web development principles and best practices.
3. Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
4. Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services.
5. Strong understanding of integrating and deploying AI models, particularly large language models, in applications.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
7. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
