Senior Software Engineer in AI Startup

At the ETH spin-off Lightly, we build software solutions to help companies improve their deep learning models. The available data for deep learning grows faster than human tagging and available compute power. Our customers already face this problem and have too much data to process. As a solution, we built software to identify and work with the most relevant samples only.

Thus, we are looking for an experienced engineer with lots of passion for the subject. We offer attractive cash- & equity package for you to become part-owner of Lightly. Remote work is also possible.

We use a modern stack of:

• PyTorch, Python, Type Script, Rust, Svelte, NodeJS
• Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, AWS

As a (Senior) Software Engineer, you’re building and improving our core product. You are an all-rounder with a focus on putting the subparts of our product stack together.

Particularly, you will get to:

• Come up with and implement software to solve customer needs.
• Design and implement new features across the stack.
• Research and implement new technologies and solutions.
• Build automated testing and benchmarking infrastructure.
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes you will encounter.
• Proactively identify and prioritize improvements to the team’s processes, codebases, and best practices.

Ideally you have:

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
• Experience in building complex software products, e.g. spanning multiple programming languages.
• Excellent coding skills in one of Python, Type Script (NodeJS and React/Svelte)
• Knowledge of software engineering and software design best practices.
• Experience with building and shipping software solutions.
• A strong passion for new technologies and interest in keeping up with latest technologies.
• A creative, collaborative, and product-focused mindset.
