Role OverviewAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key leader within our data team, taking ownership of major components of Peerspace’s data infrastructure. You will design, build, and optimize robust and scalable data pipelines into our production Big Query data warehouse, leveraging tools like DBT and Segment. Your work will directly empower our BI tools, reporting, Marketing, and Data Science initiatives by ensuring a highly reliable and performant data ecosystem.
You will mentor other engineers, lead complex projects, and set high standards for data quality and engineering excellence.
You are a great fit for this role if you have:
- Experience: 5-8 years in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing, building, and owning production data pipelines.
- Technical
Skills:- Deep expertise with cloud-based data warehousing, particularly designing and optimizing schemas in Big Query.
- Advanced proficiency with DBT for creating sophisticated, scalable, and maintainable data transformation models.
- Significant experience with tools like Segment for architecting data collection and event streaming strategies.
- Proven ability to integrate and model numerous third-party data sources to build a comprehensive and authoritative data ecosystem.
- Architectural Mindset: Strong ability to design scalable, resilient data systems and make informed technical trade-offs. You have an eye for detail and a passion for data integrity.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: A history of effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and experience mentoring junior engineers on technical concepts and best practices.
- Impact: A track record of delivering high‑impact data projects from conception to completion, driving measurable improvements in data quality, availability, and utility. You are a domain expert in multiple business areas.
- Ownership Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement, leading technical initiatives, and staying at the forefront of data engineering technologies.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Data Warehousing: Owning and evolving our data pipelines into Big Query, leading efforts to improve performance, scalability, and cost‑efficiency.
- Data Transformation: Architecting and implementing advanced data models using DBT, establishing best practices for testing, documentation, and code quality.
- Integration: Leading the design and implementation of integrations with Segment and other third‑party sources, ensuring data consistency and reliability across the platform.
- Project Leadership: Taking ownership of complex data projects, from gathering requirements with BI, Marketing, and Data Science teams to delivering robust, production‑ready solutions.
- Mentorship: Guiding and mentoring other data engineers, leading code reviews, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 to $175,000. The actual salary will vary depending on experience, skills, and abilities as well as internal equity and market data.
