Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include the world’s leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders in many sectors. The company pioneers global distributed collaboration, with 1200+ colleagues in 75+ countries and very few office‐based roles.
Teams meet two to four times yearly in person in interesting locations around the world to align on strategy and execution.
The company is founder‑led, profitable, and growing.
This technical management role leads a team that develops Python and Golang micro‑services powering our global software distribution engine – the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. The system understands key concepts in software distribution – architectures, releases, betas, release candidates, stable releases, branches and more. We are on a journey to transform the open source software experience by expanding the range of software we can deliver through this system.
If you have a passion for clean APIs, believe that great engineers ship software calmly and regularly against an agile plan, and know that tests are the key to higher velocity and reliability, you’ll fit right in.
You’ll engineer a highly scalable SaaS product (consider the load when a large Ubuntu Desktop snap is updated). You’ll also learn from Canonical’s world‑class security team to deliver this capability safely to customers worldwide.
