About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer for our “Seqera Platform” team: a customer‑facing product delivered both as a cloud and an on‑premises solution that enables scientists to solve complex problems in biotech with a set of modern tools at their fingertips, and administrators and collaborators to have the access they need to scientific research.
What You’ll Do- You will lead a team of highly talented engineers who design, implement, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across our full software stack.
- Engage extensively with your product team and cross‑functionally. This involves interpreting and integrating customer feedback into the development cycle to ensure our products not only meet but exceed user expectations.
- Collaborate with your fellow engineers to develop the best engineering practices, improving processes, documenting and creating onboarding artifacts, helping with hiring, identifying and prioritizing technical backlog and generating a valuable impact on the engineering culture in Seqera.
- Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering, with experience in front‑end and back‑end development and ability to ramp up quickly on new frameworks and technologies.
- Experience writing optimized, well‑tested, and secure code in both front‑end and back‑end settings, including efficient algorithms, coding standards and security measures.
- Proven experience designing, modeling, and operating database systems, guiding data modeling decisions, schema evolution and performance trade‑offs.
- Experience with API design and best practices, handling requests from multiple clients and products within the Seqera Ecosystem.
- Experience building cloud applications, with at least one major cloud provider and distributed architecture on top of its service offering.
- Familiarity with container technologies and orchestration such as Kubernetes and Docker Compose.
- Knowledge of HPC and batch solutions, both on‑premise and in the cloud (AWS Batch, Google Batch and/or Azure Batch).
- Experience with Angular and React.
- Passion for the whole application life cycle, including deployment, monitoring, maintenance and iteration.
- Experience in both Enterprise and SaaS architectures.
