What will I be doing?

You’ll be proactively dealing with issues of anti-social behaviour affecting our tenants.

Using your background and skills, you’ll manage high-level cases, taking them through the best course of action for the most suitable outcome.

You may be managing a case through the court process, using your legal background to ensure best practice while supporting the victim along the way.

For cases that do not need to go to court, you’ll be taking other action.

Either way, you’ll be supporting people, providing expert advice and representing the Council in key legal cases.

It’s a varied role and it comes with plenty of challenges. You’ll need to be capable of balancing multiple priorities, and you’ll need to be equally comfortable working with people as you are working with processes.

This is also a rewarding role though. Whether you’re helping make a community feel safer, or helping an individual to access the support they need in their life, you’ll be making a difference to people.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have knowledge of the relevant legislation and court processes associated with anti-social behaviour cases. You should also have at least two years’ experience of managing and resolving these cases previously.

Your specific background may vary. You may have worked for a local authority housing service before, but this role is also suitable for anyone from a legal or police background.

Ideally, you’ll have good knowledge of the housing industry too, including a L3/4 qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing.

You’ll be a robust individual with the ability to deal with difficult conflicts, while having the empathy to work with people who have difficult needs.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
