Camden’s Lifelong Links service works with children in care and care‑experienced young people to help them build strong, lasting support networks. Through creative, relationship‑based practice, Lifelong Links Coordinators help young people identify meaningful connections, strengthen relationships, and develop a sense of belonging that continues into adulthood.

Role Summary

We are looking for compassionate, independent practitioners to deliver Lifelong Links work with children and young people. As an Independent Lifelong Links Coordinator, you will support young people to explore their relationships, reconnect with people who matter to them, and coordinate a plan that builds a sustainable, safe support network for their future. This is a flexible, self‑employed role ideal for someone with strong communication skills, experience working with young people, and a commitment to relational, strengths‑based practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusting, meaningful relationships with children and young people to understand their needs, experiences, and wishes.
  • Map and explore the young person’s network, including family, friends, professionals, and past connections.
  • Contact and engage network members sensitively and safely, following all safeguarding guidance.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Lifelong Links meetings, ensuring the young person’s voice is central.
  • Develop a clear, practical support plan with the young person and their network.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of work completed.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, carers, and other professionals.
  • Champion the principles of Lifelong Links and uphold Camden’s values at all times.
Person Specification
  • Must have completed Lifelong Links Coordinator training and be confident applying the model in practice.
  • Able to manage your own workload, work flexibly, and keep cases moving without direct supervision.
  • Comfortable adjusting your approach to meet the needs, preferences, and circumstances of each young person.
  • Committed to culturally sensitive, anti‑oppressive ways of working with children, families, and communities.
  • Skilled at working with families where there may be safeguarding concerns, complex dynamics, or barriers to engagement.
  • Able to build trusting relationships with children, young people, and adults; confident in sensitive conversations and relational work.
  • Familiar with and confident using these tools to explore family relationships and wider support networks.
  • Confident in organising, leading, and chairing meetings, including Lifelong Links network meetings.
  • Able to mediate, manage conflict safely, and support people to stay focused on the young person’s needs.
  • Understanding of statutory responsibilities and how to work safely at all times.
  • The role will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Evidence of public liability insurance.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
What We Offer
  • Flexible, self‑directed working arrangements.
  • Support and guidance from Camden’s Lifelong Links team.
  • Opportunities to develop specialist relational practice skills.
  • Payment for working hours, travel time, and travel costs.
