Are you passionate about empowering communities through access to information, digital services and cultural activities. Join our team as a Assistant Community Library Connector and become the primary point of contact for residents in Birmingham, helping to deliver a comprehensive, welcoming and supportive library service. You will play a vital role in supporting local households by providing information, guidance, resources, and access to a wide range of services promoting well-being, independence, and digital inclusion across the community.
You will also work closely with local stakeholders to develop a strong network of support services and activities, translating the library’s vision into practical, community-led initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact for residents, supporting access to holistic services including finance, housing, employment skills, education, and well-being
- Promote digital inclusion by helping residents build digital skills and confidence
- Deliver a high-quality library service in line with national standards and legislation
- Issuing, returning, and maintaining library materials; handling cash transactions; and supporting administrative tasks
- Promoting literacy, cultural activities, study and homework support tailored to community needs
- Build relationships with local stakeholders and community partners
- Support the development of a strong network of services and activities for residents
- Maintain accurate records and uphold council service standards
- Participate in training and take responsibility for personal development
- Work flexibly across community settings, including evenings and weekends
- Hold keyholder responsibilities for opening and closing library buildings
- Committing to your own continuous professional development to enhance service quality
