Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Camp Operations and Programs, The Manager, Camper Support is responsible for supporting the mental health, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of our campers and for providing direct support to youth as needed. The role works collaboratively with wellness teams, registration team (Intake Support Workers) camp management, front‑line staff, and camper families to ensure young people are supported throughout their camp journey.
Work Location:
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and will be based out of the Foundation’s Home Office in St. George, Ontario working a minimum of three days per week in-office. Remote work arrangements may be available for candidates who reside beyond a reasonable commuting distance from the office. Travel to our camp locations across Canada will be required during the summer months.
Employment Type:
This is a full‑time contract position posted to support an upcoming leave within the team. The anticipated contract period is April 2026 through October 2027. The annual salary range for this role is $75,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience.
What would you be doing?
Build strong relationships with campers and their families grounded in trust, respect, and empathy.Act as a liaison between campers, families, camp management, registration team and the wellness teams.Support campers with elevated behavioural, emotional, social, and mental health needs through regular follow-ups between camp visits.Assess campers’ eligibility for program participation based on admittance and retention criteria.Provide referrals to community support services for campers and families.Support the Intake & Support Workers with elevated camper needs.Support with the recruitment process and training of seasonal Camper Support Specialists.Work closely with Camper Support teams across all camp locations during summer operations, supporting them through regular training and consultation.Annually review our camper support standards, training, resources and guidelines. Ensure compliance with industry expectations and regulatory body standards.Annually review & deliver training on mental health, behaviour management, bullying, abuse/neglect disclosures, and sexual or gender‑based violence.Ensure appropriate response, follow‑through, and debriefing on camper‑related incidents.Review and complete required documentation in adherence with THFC guidelines, the OCSWSSW Code & Standards and any applicable legislation.Role
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent in a clinically relevant fieldRegistration and Entitled to Practice with the OCSWSSW3+ years’ experience working with youth aged 12 – 16 in a professional mental health and behavioural setting with an understanding and sensitivity to the challenges faced by youth from low-income homesSuperior written and oral communication skills with strong time management, project management, and organizational skills across multiple priorities and projectsSkilled in building interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence positive decision-making, listen, manage conflict, while practicing sensitivity and compassionStrong relationship builder with the ability to influence, identify and articulate common objectivesKnowledge of the youth development and/or camping fields considered an assetBilingua…
