Hourly rate of pay: £25.21 - £28.15. Candidates will be assessed on the basis of appropriate relevant experience and qualifications and salary placed within the advertised scale.
Days and Hours Of WorkMonday – Friday, 09:00-17:00. Starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable. To start 1st April 2026.
About The Team and Working EnvironmentEast Lothian Children's Services have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practitioner to fulfil the role of full time SCIM interviewer in our dynamic Child Protection Team. The team consists of a team leader, three senior practitioners, one social worker/SCIM interviewer and a part‑time SCIM interviewer.
Children's Services is located in an open plan office with onsite parking and we promote an open, trusting and communicative culture at all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations- Apply sound value base, excellent communication skills and knowledge of the Scottish Child Interview Model.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and competences of forensic interviews that produce best‑quality evidence and ensure the protection of the child.
- Participate actively in the planning, briefing and de‑briefing for joint investigative interviews.
- Complete or be willing to undertake SCIM training.
- Carry out risk assessments as part of child protection work.

Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and to be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required.
Education/ Qualifications
Essential:
Approved qualification in Social Work, and SSSC registration. Those with international Social Work qualifications should not apply unless they are fully registered with the SSSC.
Desirable:
Post‑qualifying award.
Full current driving licence and access to a vehicle. Where a disability precludes you from obtaining a driving licence, East Lothian Council will make reasonable adjustments.
