Project Assistant – 30 months fixed term appointment

Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) is a small team supporting people affected by cancer across the Lothians. The post forms part of a job share and, together, acts as the central point of contact for the service. The role offers a unique opportunity to work with partners across health and social care, local authority, third sector and users and carers.

• The first point of contact for the Pan‑Lothian Improving the Cancer Journey service so that people affected by cancer can access the service, and a point of contact for colleagues from across the Lothians; provide administrative tasks to support service delivery and ongoing monitoring of the ICJ service.
• Contribute to the development of the Pan‑Lothian programme involving health and social care professionals, local authority, users, carers and wider public and third sector colleagues.
• Report to the Midlothian HSCP Admin Function.
• Work within NHS Lothian, with flexible home working available.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
