An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Health & Disability Team (CHAD) at Cardiff Council. This is a rewarding role within a supportive and dynamic multi-agency environment, working with children with additional needs and their families.
The team operates a hybrid model, combining home working, agile community-based practice, and office-based working at County Hall.About the RoleAs a Social Worker within CHAD, you will work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to safeguard and promote wellbeing. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, strengths-based practice using the Signs of Safety approach.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while contributing to service development and quality assurance across Children's Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside a multi-agency team of professionals in partnership with families.
- Use the Signs of Safety approach to underpin social work practice.
- Complete Wellbeing Assessments, child protection enquiries, and develop and review care and support plans.
- Work in a multi-agency capacity to provide coordinated support to families.
- Attend Child Protection Conferences, Children Looked After Reviews, and Court hearings as required.
- Provide specialist advice and support across the wider Children's Services team regarding children with additional needs.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective systems to ensure quality services.
- Participate in the team duty rota and regular team meetings.
- Demonstrate high-quality written and verbal practice.
- Provide peer support and guidance to Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs).
- A Degree or Master's in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working within a Child Health & Disability Team.
- Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team around children.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- A commitment to collaborative, strengths-based practice.
