TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT

As a Residential Program Assistant with our nonprofit, you play an essential role in helping our program coordinator keep our group home running smoothly. You provide additional oversight to the staffing and training of our group home as well as ensure that residents receive the individual support that they need. In addition, you help coordinate and lead the programs that we offer.

Following along with our person‑centered and behavior support plans, you monitor, supervise, and participate in their development and implementation, which means our residents are always receiving the top‑quality care they need. You enjoy having a job where you get to make such a positive impact on our residents with developmental disabilities and their families!

The individuals in these programs need support with high levels of medical, behavioural and personal hygiene care. You will play an integral part directly supporting clients every shift to assist the individuals with social skills, communication, safety, recreation and leisure, and various other skills to learn independence in their lives.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
  • 6+ months of experience working with individuals with Developmental/intellectual disabilities (experience with challenging behaviours will be given preference).
  • Ability to complete required training within 3 months of employment.
  • Ability to produce and review typed business letters, reports, and accurate numerical records.
  • Personal and reliable transportation with current motor vehicle insurance, and willing to transport clients in personal vehicle.
  • Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Leadership skills.

WORK SCHEDULES

Midvale location:

Monday and Tuesday Off. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 1:00 pm‑9:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am‑5:00 pm.

Sandy

Location:

Monday 1:00 pm‑8:00 pm. Tuesday and Wednesday OFF. Thursday and Friday 1:00 pm‑8:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am‑7:00 pm.

In addition to the typical schedule listed above, there is flexibility needed depending on the needs of the program, such as staff coverage and emergencies, and may include day, swing, overnight, and weekend hours.
