Youth and Family Support Counselor – CCBYS Program

Location: Chicago, IL (Melrose Park)

Salary: $45,000 – $48,000 (Based on Qualifications)

Full-Time | Rotating Schedule

Position Overview

Youth Outreach Services is seeking a Youth and Family Support Counselor to work within the CCBYS (Comprehensive Community-Based Youth Services) program. This role supports youth ages 11–17 and their families during times of crisis, with the goal of stabilizing youth within their homes and preventing involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems.

The Youth and Family Support Counselor works directly with families to address behavioral concerns, reduce conflict, and provide community-based stabilization services.

Schedule

This position follows a rotating schedule based on program needs:

  • 2–3 on-call shifts per week
  • In-person response required for youth and family situations
  • After successful completion of the probationary period, partial remote work may be available for documentation and administrative responsibilities
Youth and Family Support Counselor Responsibilities
  • Respond in collaboration with police departments to support youth in crisis
  • Provide intensive home-based counseling and stabilization services
  • Work directly with youth and caregivers to strengthen family functioning
  • Connect families to appropriate community resources and referrals
  • Deliver services for up to 90 days per case
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case records
  • Participate in weekly team meetings for case consultation and support
Youth and Family Support Counselor Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable daily access to a vehicle required
  • Ability and willingness to respond to in-person client situations
  • Experience providing direct services to adolescents preferred
  • Spanish-speaking candidates encouraged to apply
