Are you an experienced social worker passionate about developing others? Ready to advance practice and support professional growth? Interested in practice education but concerned about the time commitment? Look no further.

About the Role

Leicestershire County Council is committed to developing staff to train and qualify as social workers. We are now entering our eighth year of supporting staff on the social work degree apprenticeship, and we are looking for a practice educator to nurture and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours of staff to become social workers of the future. Although PEPS 2 is preferred, if you’ve completed PEPS 1, we will support and fund for you to complete PEPS 2.

This role is a good fit if you find yourself still drawn to practice and want to do more, but maybe not management.

If you’re a social worker looking to work in an established and supportive small team, this might be the role for you. As well as working with apprentices, the role also requires working with staff on the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). The role offers hybrid working, both from home and office spaces.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Current social work registration with Social Work England
  • PEPS level 1 at a minimum, PEPS 2 desirable
  • Have good working knowledge of social work theories, methods and models of supervision and have experience of forming plans that are achievable and meet learning goals
  • Have high levels of legal literacy in key areas:
Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and DoLS, Mental Health Act
  • Have good prioritisation and time management skills
  • Have some experience of working with learners who may need reasonable adjustments
  • Able to develop and maintain relationships.

E.g. university partners, line managers and employers, people who use services, colleagues in children’s services

We’d also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the interview process.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.

Interested in Flexible Working?

We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments. Therefore, wherever possible, we will consider working arrangements that suit an individual’s personal circumstances whilst still meeting the needs of the Council. If you would like to discuss the possible flexible working options that might be applicable to this role, please contact the person named below. This may include requests for term-time working, part-time hours, compressed hours, flexible start and finish times, home/remote working, etc.

Every role within the Council has a defined working style which determines where they can work. The worker category applicable to this post is detailed in the above advert. You can find out more about our worker categories in the Our Working Styles page on our career site.
