We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Housing Advisor to join our Housing Options service in Leeds. This is a key role supporting our work to prevent homelessness, deliver high‑quality advice, and ensure vulnerable residents receive the right support at the right time.

About you

  • Strong knowledge of homelessness law, safeguarding, and housing options services.
  • Experience managing complex casework and supporting staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers in challenging situations.
  • A proactive, organised approach and positive problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with partners and stakeholders.
About the role

As a Senior Housing Advisor, you will provide specialist guidance on homelessness legislation, oversee complex casework, and offer day‑to‑day support to Housing Advisors within the team. You’ll help drive excellent customer service, maintain high professional standards, and contribute to service improvements across the Housing Options function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act, and relevant case law.
  • Manage a caseload of complex and high‑risk cases, ensuring legally compliant and person‑centred outcomes.
  • Support Housing Advisors with case reviews, mentoring, and quality assurance.
  • Develop and oversee Personal Housing Plans and prevention/relief work.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies.
  • Assist with service development initiatives, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Contribute positively to a culture of continuous improvement.
