FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST I
Under direct supervision, the Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing home-based prevention services focusing on supporting the parent‑child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities for families; performs related work as assigned.
Pay for this position is dependent on qualifications. The hiring range for the position is:
Family Support Specialist I - $48,680.32 to $51,114.33 and Family Support Specialist II - $52,236.08 to $54,847.88 (Illustrative Only).
- Conduct home visits virtually or in-person and assess family needs and provide case management services, when necessary, while promoting self‑sufficiency.
- Utilize child development curricula with each family and promote positive parent-child relationships.
- Utilize floor time to support play within the parent and child relationship.
- Utilize appropriate limit setting and boundaries.
- Maintain necessary assessments and documentation in accordance with County and funding source requirements.
- Participate in and come prepared for weekly supervision with Program Supervisor.
- Coordinate with other community services.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled Healthy Families conferences, seminars, in-service training and parent events.
- Maintain all Healthy Families quality assurance standards, i.e. home visitation rate, etc.
- Participate in agency Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Under general supervision, the Family Support Specialist II is responsible for providing home-based prevention services focusing on supporting the parent‑child relationship, attachment, and family enhancement through child development education, play, goal setting, assessments, and coordination of services/activities for families, mentoring new Family Support Specialists; performs related work as assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform the duties of a Family Support Specialist I.
- Participate in a County, community or Healthy Families Arizona committee.
- Actively support the Supervisor in onboarding new Family Support Specialists and mentoring with community resources, curriculum, home visiting and paperwork.
- Provide administrative support to Program Supervisor as assigned, including supporting case staffing management and chart reviews as assigned.
- Observe a Program Supervisor during weekly supervision with staff at least twice a year.
- Observe end of month completion at least twice a year.
- Remain up to date on best practices and emerging trends in home visiting programs and services.
- May be responsible for the development of additional trainings as required for the population(s) served.
- May be responsible for assigning and reviewing the work of others.
- Other duties as required by the County or the Program Supervisor.
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; sitting for computer entry, typing, answering telephones, etc; working with and around other staff, administration, and citizens, etc; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand / wrist) for computer and phone work; vision acuity (near / far); hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch and finger dexterity for using radios, intercoms, telephones and computers.
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS – FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST I
High school diploma and two years of work experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS – FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST IMust be able to provide proof of education (i.e., High School diploma or equivalent or College degree/transcripts). Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of a current and valid motor vehicle insurance. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5‑year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must be eligible and able to obtain/maintain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
Must be able to be certified in CPR/First Aid. Final job offer will be contingent upon a clear pre‑employment drug test.
This position is non‑exempt from overtime.
