Employment and Career Pathways Guide – U.S. Enterprise

January 2026

Location:

Twin Cities (Minnesota); non-remote position (expected to work 80%-100% in office).

Hours:

40 hours/week, weekday/daytime hours, evenings and weekends required as needed.

Reports to:

Employment and Career Guide Lead, Program Manager, or Co-Director. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Languages:

English proficiency required; second language proficiency preferred in Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Spanish, Swahili, or other languages represented by individuals new to Minnesota and the United States.

The Role

The Employment and Career Pathways Guide (ECP Guide) will provide high-touch, highly person-centered individualized services to New American residents in the City of Minneapolis. The ECP Guide will conduct community outreach, assessment, intake, resource and referral, and bridge New Americans’ experience with educational and employer partners. The ECP Guide will also support individuals in accessing eligible support services, including credential verification, and actively participate in planning and hosting job fairs and contributing to a Community of Practice.

Job Duties

Outreach (15%)

  • Conduct outreach throughout the City of Minneapolis to New Americans; work in tandem with Alight’s Employment and Career Services team.
  • Use various methods including flyers, brochures, radio ads and more; work in tandem with Alight’s Program Manager and Communication Manager and adhere to agency policies and procedures.

Enrollment and Assessment (15%)

  • Screen participants for eligibility to specific programs as outlined by funder guidelines.
  • Enroll participants and complete the appropriate intake process according to funder and agency policies.
  • Work closely with participants to develop their personalized career development plans.

Job Readiness, Employment, and Career Pathways (40%)

  • Identify, document and maintain a list of active referral resources for New Americans.
  • Meet with New American job seekers to identify resources and employment service providers who can support them as they prepare to enter, and maintain employment. The Provider will refer and support New Americans as they establish relationships with these providers.
  • Provide job seeking support to New Americans, including resume and interview preparation, translation, assistance to access computer labs and other job search resources.
  • Offer support services to New Americans in support of employment goals, including but not limited to expenses related to credential verification, transportation, driver's license/state .

Collaboration (15%)

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Community of Practice.
  • Contribute to and participate in planning and hosting three job fairs.
  • Actively collaborate with community partners on individual cases where eligible.

Data / File Management and Reporting (10%)

  • Consistently meet outcomes defined by grantor (City of Minneapolis) and Alight.
  • Contribute to department‑wide performance on outcomes.
  • Input required data into digital databases, including Workforce One, and/or other platforms as necessary, in an accurate and timely manner for all participants.
  • Maintain all required case file documentation per grantor and agency policies.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate case notes in online case management system.
  • Participate in periodic internal and external (funder) case file monitoring.

Other Responsibilities (5%)

  • Refer participants to Alight’s and referral partners’ services to support participants’ economic‑self‑sufficiency and to meet funder outcome requirements.
  • Adhere to proper confidentiality practices and complete any training as required by Alight and funder.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and projects assigned.

Regular travel within the City of Minneapolis and Twin Cities Metro Area is expected.

Illustrative Measurable Expectations
  • 40 individuals referred to a credential evaluation provider, or will receive employment-related support service.
  • 250 individuals will participate in job and resource fairs, and navigation services.
