Position: CDPP / Outreach Case Worker (Spanish Speaking)

Job Overview

The Health & Wellness (H&W) Caseworker will address barriers to mental health services and wellness supports for especially vulnerable Spanish‑speaking clients residing in Contra Costa County. The H&W caseworker will conduct community outreach, provide culturally appropriate mental health education, and lead workshops and groups. They will plan and implement outreach activities throughout Contra Costa County in partnership with community organizations to engage Spanish‑speaking newcomers, conduct pre‑ and post‑assessment of clients’ knowledge of mental health and stress management, and facilitate referrals to programs offered by IRC Oakland and external service providers.

The caseworker will coordinate referrals, develop client service plans, and utilize a broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.

Major Responsibilities
  • Determine client eligibility for PC programming and other IRC direct service programs through screening assessments (e.g., RHS‑15), and review program expectations, outcomes, and confidentiality with each potential client.
  • Provide resource navigation and referrals as needed, including assistance navigating healthcare and social service systems.
  • Provide individual cultural orientation and education on various social services.
  • Create, plan, and implement psycho‑social workshop programming on mental health topics such as emotional regulation, self‑empowerment, and goal setting.
  • Conduct knowledge assessments before and after workshops to measure outcomes, and complete intake and report documentation as required by funder.
  • Update mental health education tools and existing wellness workshop curriculum to ensure it is linguistically and culturally appropriate for Spanish‑speakers.
  • Conduct community outreach and maintain a strong network of service providers that meet client needs; maintain relationships with local and state refugee and health coordinators.
  • Respond to client crises with guidance from supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation in client case file, documenting all services in IRC’s database and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).
  • Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level.
  • May train and lead volunteers and interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or related field preferred.

Work Experience: 1‑2 years of relevant community‑based social services experience; background in resettlement, humanitarian relief, or capacity building.

Demonstrated Skills &

Competencies:

Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking; understanding of community integration and cross‑cultural awareness; multi‑cultural communication skills; self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving; attention to detail; fluent in English and Spanish (written & spoken); proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting tools; valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle.

Working Environment: Combination of standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area; occasional weekend or evening work may be required.

Compensation: Pay range: $29.10 – $30.00 per hour (US‑based candidates).
