Job DescriptionWe have an opportunity for a highly motivated person whose work will reflect Instron’s commitment to customer satisfaction. Working from home, out of the northern Frederick, MD area, you will be responsible for traveling to customer sites to perform a variety of services including verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Instron products. You will be provided with a company vehicle, appropriate tools and equipment, including a laptop computer, cell phone, and the assurance that you have the support of a well‑established service operation.
You will have regional responsibility in the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC area. Occasional travel to other locations in the US may be required, and as much as 30% overnight travel.
Perform a variety of services, including verification, preventative maintenance, repair and installation of Instron products at customer sites. Travel primarily within the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC area, with occasional travel elsewhere in the United States. Operate a company vehicle and utilize provided tools, equipment, laptop and cell phone. Provide high‑level technical support and customer service for electro‑mechanical systems.
QualificationsSuccessful applicants will have a two‑ or four‑year technical degree from an accredited university and knowledge of electro‑mechanical systems. Equivalent military or trade school training may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret basic technical information involving mechanics and electronics associated with materials testing systems. Must be able to interpret blueprints and schematics, understand electrical, mechanical and electronic systems, and be familiar with PCs including operating systems and Windows applications.
This role requires a high level of autonomy, superior organizational, time‑management and customer‑service skills. Must be able to pass security background checks to gain access to U.S. Government and military facilities.
- Prior field service experience strongly preferred
- Automation systems experience is a plus
- Experience performing preventative or corrective maintenance on servo hydraulic systems preferred
- Experience with materials testing preferred, but not required
- Experience delivering hands‑on and classroom training on technical topics preferred
$30 – $35 USD hourly
