HII Mission Technologies Corp. (HII-MTC) is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in shipboard mechanical/electrical systems to support engineering, design, maintenance, and integration efforts under the CEMAT and ESU contracts aboard CVN 74 and CVN 75. SME provides specialized technical and operational expertise in support of subcontracted work carried out onboard the ship and at off-site repair facilities.

• Meet with sub-contractors daily to ensure proper work controls are in place prior to beginning work.

• Monitor sub-contractors work to identify potential problems, obstacles, or delays affecting progress and provide daily status updates.

• Conduct inspections, audits and in process surveillance of contractors ensuring compliance with technical manuals, procedures, and quality standards.

• Interface daily and maintain effective communication with subcontractors to clarify expectations, relay technical and schedule requirements.

• Ensure all subcontracted efforts align with contract SOWs, Technical Instructions, Navy Standard Items, and schedule objectives.

• Write and track Condition Reports (CRs) associated with subcontractor efforts; ensure timely submission and resolution tracking.

• Support discrepancy resolution, Corrective Action Reports (CARs), and root cause analysis with subcontractor involvement.

• Ensure subcontractor adherence to drawing changes, Ship Change Documents (SCDs), and Formal Work Package (FWP) standards.

• Familiarity with production tracking tools such as TSSR, POA&M, and SFIMS.

• Ability to operate independently in a high-pressure, schedule-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 10 years of related experience, to include specific systems expertise. Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must have 5 years of conducting or supporting jobsite and QA inspections, and safety reviews.
  • Strong understanding of NAVSEA drawing interpretation, Navy Standard Items, NAVSEA Technical Manuals, and ability to implement Government/Ship’s Force-directed changes.
Preferred Requirements

• Previous aircraft carrier or fleet level operational experience.

Strong communication skills who can work effectively with military and civilian teams.

• Familiarity with DOD, Navy, or government quality standards.

• Strong working knowledge of shipyard trades (electrical, mechanical, pipe fitting, welding, etc.).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards,under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
