The Physical Security Specialist will assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) with managing all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), ensuring compliance within the facility and assigned program staff on all aspects of Physical Security. This position is also responsible for managing vendor relations related to physical security controls to include badging, visitor management and camera coverage to ensure overall physical security requirements are met.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Ensure badging system is accurately used and badging protocols strictly adhered to
- Create and maintain the visitor system (policy, badges and sign-in log) for facility
- Serve as COMSEC Manager
- Responsible for maintaining access control systems, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems
- Accurately maintain control of facility keys and logs
- Respond to alarms, security breaches, and emergencies as needed
- Responsible for identifying potential threats, conducting risk assessments, and auditing facility safety
- Assist FSO with Personnel clearance processing, as needed
- Train others as needed
- Assist with security policy and procedure reviews and updates
- Responsible for the safety of personnel and protection of classified material
- Serve as backup to front desk staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Associate's degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Industrial Security.
- Working knowledge of NISPOM and related DoD security regulations required.
- Working knowledge of Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) standards, including ICD 705 requirements for Closed Areas.
- Experience administering access control systems and video surveillance platforms.
- Working knowledge of security databases such as DISS, eAPP, SIMS, or equivalent systems.
- Active Top Secret clearance required.
- Computer proficiency
- COMSEC Custodian certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle classified information with discretion and integrity.
- Requires constant alertness and situational awareness.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Primarily indoor, office-based environment.
- Frequently required to stand or walk for extended periods; may also spend extended periods seated while monitoring surveillance systems.
- Must be capable of exercising independent judgment and making timely, sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Occasional overtime may be required to support security operations.
