Job DescriptionThe Core Symitar Specialist acts as part of a team of IT professionals focused on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction and guidance with Delta Community Credit Union's core system, Symitar. They are responsible for the administration, maintenance, and operation of the IBM Power server, AIX Operating system, and the Symitar Episys based software. They act as the subject matter expert for testing, implementation and upgrades to the core system.
The Core Symitar Analyst will foster an environment of open communication, learning, quality customer service, problem-solving, risk management and idea generation.
- Assist in daily core system operations and maintenance to ensure reliability, integrity, system availability, and security.
- Create/modify and schedule Symitar Episys batch files to process necessary jobs to maintain Delta Community Credit Union operations.
- Oversee the Credit Union core systems to ensure that our system is properly maintained to provide reliable and secured work environment.
- Responsible for the administration, maintenance, and operation of the IBM Power server, AIX Operating system, and the Symitar Episys based software.
- Responsible for performing system recovery to rebuild our Core system after any form of catastrophic system failure.
- Understand IT disaster recovery plan and able to perform 'FAILOVER' process to ensures the Credit Union business continuity in case of an emergency.
- Responsible for Symitar update of software releases, patches.
- Verify test results and meet implementation schedule and implement changes to Symitar as requested.
- Work with the appropriate IT personnel and users to assist in operations process creation, redesign and documentation.
- Modify and adjust daily operation processing to ensure proper operation.
- Define and document operation processes and procedures.
- Work with project management to develop, test and deliver the required specification of each project and coordinate from initial phase to final implementation as required.
- Work with support staff and vendors to ensure that existing systems comply with operational configurations and performance standards.
- Participate in evaluations of core operations tools and technologies.
- Maintain knowledge database of known errors and resolutions by monitoring incident, problem and change processes.
- Document and, if necessary, train core operation personnel in various processes, and procedures.
- Able to perform all core operational daily tasks and functions.
- Assist in training and mentoring operations personnel in current procedures.
- Analyze the process and make adjustment as needed to improve our system overall performance.
- Identify and diagnose problems and coordinate resolution.
- Analyze problem areas identified by users of the Symitar system and follow up on problem resolution and report on status.
- Convene with person or department requesting change to resolve questions of process intent, data input, output requirements.
- Work with vendors and staff to setup user and device access to Symitar.
- Understand Symitar 'symop' usage and its capabilities.
- Be on call outside regularly scheduled hours.
- Oversee project work related to core system enhancements.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience with a core banking system and/or platform.
- Knowledge of Credit Union daily core system operations and associated requirements.
- Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related field.
- 3+ years' experience specifically on the Symitar Episys platform and associated core banking systems.
- Experience overseeing project work efforts around enhancing core banking systems.
- Experience with IBM mainframe P series.
- Experience with Unix/AIX.
- Knowledge of Delta Community Credit Union procedures and policies.
