Afronomias Cyber Services is a boutique risk advisory practice focused on helping small organizations understand operational and organizational risk. The Risk & Operations Fellowship is a mentored training program designed to teach how governance and risk advisory engagements actually function in practice.
This is not an employment role, technical cybersecurity position, or certification training program. Fellows will not be configuring security tools, working in SIEM platforms, or performing hands‑on engineering tasks. Instead, the fellowship focuses on structured analysis, documentation, and learning how risk is communicated to leadership and decision‑makers.
The program is built around a guided case study engagement (Clear Ledger) and internal advisory support activities.
What Fellows Will Do:- Organizing research and background information on organizations
- Structuring meeting notes and observations
- Drafting asset inventories and observation tables
- Preparing draft risk register entries (reviewed by the advisor)
- Summarizing operational processes into clear documentation
- Formatting reports and presentation materials
- Learning how risks are translated into leadership‑level communication
Fellows may occasionally assist with preparation work related to volunteer or small‑organization engagements when available, but independent advising or client communication is not part of the role.
What Fellows Will Not Be Doing:This fellowship is not designed for hands‑on cybersecurity operations. Fellows will not:
- Configure or monitor security tools
- Work in SIEM, SOC, or penetration testing environments
- Perform vulnerability scanning or engineering tasks
- Independently advise or represent Afronomias to organizations
Participants gain experience in:
- Governance and risk thinking
- Advisory communication skills
- Structured analysis and documentation
- Translating complex issues for leadership audiences
- Consulting workflow exposure
This fellowship is best suited for individuals interested in transitioning toward governance, risk, advisory, compliance, consulting, operations analysis, or business risk roles.
Ideal Candidate:We are looking for someone who:
- Communicates clearly in writing
- Is organized and detail‑oriented
- Is curious about how organizations function
- Is comfortable with documentation and structured work
- Is teachable and collaborative
- Can commit approximately 5–8 hours per week for 12 weeks
Cybersecurity experience is not required. Analytical mindset and willingness to learn are more important than technical background.
