• Perform security guard duties in accordance with regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage, and espionage.
• Enforce the security regulations of the installation.
• Control access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation.
• Verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, verbal questioning, and other means.
• Admit persons, deny entry or arrange for escorts as appropriate.
• Conduct vehicle searches and inspections.
• Conduct foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking, and other high‑traffic areas.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position requires a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Shift work required; hours may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  Must be proficient in assigned firearms/weapons; initial qualification and semi‑annual qualification required.
• Must complete security guard training and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must obtain and maintain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals.
• Must operate various electronic equipment and sensors; maintain certifications.
• Must wear the prescribed Department of Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform and maintain appearance.
• Must be able to carry and deploy riot baton, protective shield, and use non‑lethal ammunition (if necessary).
• Must wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment; may need certification for aerosol irritants.
• Must not have medical conditions preventing use of chemical protective gear.
• Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Must meet the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment requirements.

Specialized experience:
One year of experience working with a protective organization that involved protecting property against hazards such as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life.
