Overview

Manager Asset Protection - Remote t be located 1 hour from a distribution center and 1 hour from an airport.

Purpose:

Assist in making UNFI the best place to work and invest in by developing and implementing programs that provide a safe and secure environment for associates and company assets. Ensure Asset Protection (AP) and security policies are implemented in Distribution Centers (DCs) to protect associates and to manage shrink due to theft, fraud, and damage through policies, technology, and resources. Verify locations follow company-wide and local AP/security policies to safeguard associates, contractors, visitors, product, and property.

This role operates as a key leader collaborating with General Managers, DC Operations, Human Resources, Inventory Control, Facilities Managers, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Food Safety Partners.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely and thorough investigations into company losses, threats, theft, workplace violence, and other sensitive matters; coordinate with Human Resources and Legal as appropriate. Complete timely and thorough written incident reports in the case management system.
  • Conduct on-site security assessments and provide recommendations to reduce risk exposure for DCs and domicile locations; participate in security planning for company events and work with DC leaders to implement recommendations.
  • Serve as AP department liaison and security management subject matter expert to promote and execute company-wide security policies and training to safeguard people, product, and property.
  • Assist with managing security equipment at each DC and domicile, including cameras, alarms, access control systems, and other technology.
  • Develop partnerships with DC stakeholders and law enforcement to investigate leads; serve as company representative during court proceedings when necessary.
  • Hire, train, and manage Asset Protection Partners (when applicable) and assist with complex security issues and investigations.
  • Train and orient management and supervisory associates in security protocols and Workplace Violence Prevention, including Emergency Action Plan management for active threats.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Certification in interviewing techniques preferred.
  • Experience in investigation, interviewing, and report writing; experience conducting security threat assessments; thorough knowledge of industrial security practices and technology.
  • Experience managing AP/security for multiple locations and personnel.
  • Well organized, creative and self-motivated; project management and training skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Physical Environment / Demands
  • Travel approximately 50% - 80% required.
  • Most work in a temperature-controlled office; some work in Freezers and coolers in DCs.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods; sit, use hands, reach with arms; operate standard office equipment; stooping, bending, twisting, reaching as needed.
  • Exposure to temperatures from
    -20 to 35 F in Perishable Operations and 37 to 90 F in Grocery Operations; vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
