Job SummaryPerform highly skilled & technical work involving the maintenance of specialized equipment relating to scientific or research activities.
Minimum Education and ExperienceHigh school graduation or GED , supplemented by technical training in areas related to the specific research activity, college-level courses in physics, electrical engineering, & related disciplines, or completion of associate degree in electronics; 8 yrs exp in the skilled construction, operation & maintenance of sophisticated electronic equipment, including 3 yrs of exp in scientific research & field operations in the particular branch of technology or science involved;
or any equivalent combination of education or exp.
Education and Experience
Master’s in Material Science with 3 years of experience in experimental research.
Other QualificationsTo the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe employee will supervise complex vacuum systems operating from atmospheric pressure down to Ultra High Vacuum and is expected to maintain these systems and provide user training as well as support similar systems for the Materials Science and Engineering core facilities.
