The Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University is accepting applications for a Post‑Doctoral Research Associate position in transportation modeling and planning. The appointment is two years, renewable based on results and funding. Remote work is allowed two days a week. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2026. The position is grant‑funded and contingent on available funding.
Responsibilities- Conduct transportation analysis and develop modeling tools under the supervision of Dr. Robert Noland.
- Lead research assignments on the Mobility Net project funded by NSF and assess tool suitability for planners.
- Engage with the transportation planning community via workshops, focus groups, and other venues to evaluate feasibility of tools.
- Contribute to additional research projects at VTC in collaboration with faculty and staff, including safety, travel behavior, and policy research.
- Prepare manuscripts, conference presentations, and grant proposals.
- PhD in urban planning, civil engineering, geography, urban informatics, or a similar field with strong analytic skills.
- Advanced statistical analysis skills, expertise with Stata or R, and familiarity with Python.
- Experience with geographic information systems software; knowledge of Git is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new methods and work independently.
- Experience with qualitative research and focus group organization.

The minimum salary for a calendar year appointment is $75,000, with the final offer determined by experience, qualifications, and available funding.
