Overview
The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to fill an Environmental Scientist position in the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.
Principal Duties- Hazardous waste generator inspections at large quantity and small quantity generators.
- Draft detailed inspection reports and enforcement actions that are technically sound and legally enforceable.
- Perform compliance assistance to help regulated entities come back into compliance.
- Independent and team coordination.
- Versatile interpersonal skills, capable of adapting communication style to connect effectively with diverse individuals and settings.
- Has experience performing regulatory compliance evaluations for large quantity and small quantity hazardous waste generators.
- Will draft detailed, technically and legally sound inspection reports and enforcement actions within required time frames.
- Will demonstrate the capability for both independent initiative and effective team coordination.
- Will possess versatile interpersonal skills, being able to adapt communication styles to effectively engage with diverse personnel with varied professional and educational backgrounds.
- Preference may be given to those with a:
- B.S. degree or higher in science related fields.
The selected candidate for this position may be brought in as an Environmental Scientist I with a salary range of $25.27 - $37.95 per hour, an Environmental Scientist II with a salary range of $29.73 - $44.66 per hour, or an Environmental Scientist III with a salary range of $34.98 - $52.56 per hour.
Work LocationThis position may be eligible for in-office or flexible work schedule. Our office is located at 195 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
