Overview

The Specialist, Business Development and Sales Administration is responsible for managing the account expansion and sales growth of an assigned portfolio of travel agency accounts. The Specialist identifies opportunities via conversations and develops customized support to grow brand engagement, brand exposure and sales within targeted accounts. Role includes a combination of customer product training, selling, and customer engagement/support to drive long-term account success.

Responsibilities
  • Manages existing account growth via outbound sales program: dedicated portfolio of travel agency accounts; drives incremental growth; conducts account research to identify performance history and patterns; understands customer purchase motivations and creates customized account management approaches to ensure growth; achieves sales and performance targets within the assigned portfolio.
  • Manages B2B customer engagement channels: handles inbound emails from portfolio accounts; provides guidance to trade partners on topics such as commission management and booking policies; collaborates with Carnival contact center coaches and other sales colleagues to balance customer-centricity with Carnival’s business needs to drive NPS and support future business expansion.
  • Travel Agency Product Knowledge: onboard newer and growing travel agencies; consolidate Carnival content, agency interests, performance stats and objections to create content that drives incremental interest and sales; guides and supports agency partners via digital/remote tools to increase customer engagement and grow bookings.
  • Act as SME for industry and company trends: stay updated on news and positioning; research and incorporate into sales techniques and materials; share tools and knowledge across the Business Development team to keep colleagues informed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Scope:
    Supports sales and customer support efforts for the trade distribution channel; collaborates with Travel Agency partners, Carnival Sales, IT, and internal contact centers; shoreside business activities with limited exposure to shipboard colleagues.
  • Problem solving: examples include gaining access to travel agency accounts, influencing opinions of Carnival among agencies with brand affinity to competitors, and adjusting sales messages based on responses.
  • Impact:
    Oversees a substantial portfolio of newer/growth-potential travel agencies and ensures growth and improved performance; affects ticket revenue and travel agent NPS scores.
  • Leadership:
    No direct reports; significant collaboration and influence with Field Sales, Strategic Partner Sales, IT, Carnival Contact Center and Trade Marketing.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years phone-based sales or customer service
  • High School or GED;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business or related field but not required
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills for in-person, email, and phone interactions
  • Professionalism; ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize workload with minimal direction
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Proficient with web browsers and internet search
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and collaboration
  • Flexible to adapt to changes and cross-training
  • Strong work ethic
  • Technical knowledge to troubleshoot and coordinate with internal IT applications and databases; ability to maintain and create supporting data (policy/procedure) in Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Work Conditions

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.

Work Arrangement

This position is classified as “in-office.” It requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Fridays may be work-from-home. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
