Internal Business Development Representative

Location/Region: Remote position; candidates must reside within the United States.

What is the role? We are seeking a highly articulate individual interested in Sales and/or Business Development to join our Marketing Department as an Internal Business Development Representative (iBDR). The iBDR conducts business‑to‑business sales calls with prospective and existing accounts, identifies and qualifies sales opportunities to drive territory growth and expand market share, and promotes ZEISS products and services using consultative and conceptual selling approaches.

This role offers exposure to Sales, Marketing, and Business Development in a large corporate environment.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and qualify leads to drive territory growth.
  • Explore new and creative ways of reaching customers and increasing business.
  • Contact declining accounts to re‑engage and re‑establish lost business.
  • Create strategic approaches to generate interest in meeting with a field Sales Representative (BDR).
  • Support open territories remotely to meet and exceed sales growth.
  • Document interactions with customers within Salesforce.
  • Support nationwide Marketing and Sales growth initiatives.
  • Track and report progress of prospective and new accounts to Marketing and Sales management.
  • Participate in key initiatives and projects throughout the year.
  • Establish working relationships with local territory sales teams to increase business.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
  • Follow safety standards and report any safety concerns to leadership.
Qualifications
  • Prefer bachelor's degree or 2‑3 years of experience in direct sales, telesales, customer support, marketing, or sales support.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in direct sales, telesales, customer support, marketing, or sales.
  • Knowledge of optical products or experience in optical dispensing.
  • Optical industry experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
  • Specific familiarity with ECP & accounts a strong plus.
  • Local travel: 10%‑25%.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent phone presence and clear communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with a multi‑national brand or global company preferred.

Compensation

The hourly base for this position is $33.65. Pay may vary based on location, role scope, qualifications, experience, and other factors. This position is eligible for a sales commission.
