Candidate must live in DC/VA area to travel frequently to offices and attend client meetings. A current health and life license is required.
PurposeThis position is responsible for new business development within the Mid-Market space. The role leads sales initiatives and strategies as well as relationship building with external partners, prospects, and internal constituents. The sales consultant requires deep knowledge of self‑insured customers with complex benefit arrangements, and excellent presentation skills when meeting with C‑suite prospects and large consultant practices.
Essential Functions- Achieve sales goals and profitable growth for the organization.
- Position and sell multiple lines of coverage: medical, stop loss, dental, and vision.
- Strategize on proposals to ensure we meet client objectives and deliver our value proposition.
- Be proactive, organized, responsive, detail‑oriented, and track all sales data within the required platforms.
- Develop long‑term relationships with internal and external constituents.
- Organize a team of subject matter experts for finalist meetings.
- Continuously meet with consultant partners and keep them informed on new products, updates, and relevant information to their business.
Position has no direct reports but works closely with internal constituents to develop strategies for selling and presenting to consultants and prospects.
QualificationsEducation Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance Industry, or related field. If no bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Licenses/Certifications- Current health and life license for Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
5 years sales/healthcare in a similar sales position.
Preferred Qualifications- 5+ years experience in a similar sales position with a competitor or similar industry.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve prospects’ challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must meet established deadlines for proposals and work closely with internal constituents.
Estimate Amount: 80%. This position requires travel to see consultants and prospective clients within the DC metro area.
Salary Range$72,000 – $117,000. The disclosed range considers the scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, internal equity, and market factors. Compensation is not typical at the top of the range and depends on case facts.
