Location: New York

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Business Development Representative to join our growing team in the solar sector. As a BDR, your primary responsibility will be to identify and develop new business opportunities, fostering relationships with potential clients, and creating a pipeline for the sales team. This role offers significant growth potential, with the opportunity to progress into a sales position based on performance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Research and identify potential clients in the solar industry
  • Engage with leads through cold calling, emails, in person office visits and networking events/trade shows
  • Qualify leads based on their needs, business type (ideally EPC, owner, developer, financer, etc.), and timeline of procurement
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about the company’s products, services, and the solar industry in general to effectively educate prospects
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, competitors, and market demands
  • Develop initial rapport with potential clients and build trust through regular follow-ups, communications and in-person interactions
  • Involve senior sales team members to assist in conducting in-depth consultations or project conversations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 1-2 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field; experience in the solar energy or renewable energy industry is desired, but not required
  • Committed to understanding the commercial and industrial, utility and energy storage solar market
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong research skills and the ability to identify key decision-makers within potential client organizations
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter with a results-driven attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and a desire to grow within a company

This is a remote position and between 50-75% travel to meet with customers and attend expos and trade shows.
